A fab experience AWAITS

we want you to have your perfect experience – whether you’re joining us for a night or a few days/weeks, the compass is a little different than anywhere you’ve stayed before (at least we bet it is)!

as a "self check inn", you may never see us, but don’t worry we've worked to make sure that experience includes the:

  • amenities of a chic & sophisticated boutique hotel
  • community of the coolest hostel (if you want to meet other inn-habitants)
  • privacy of a 5 star airbnb
  • quaintness of the cutest b&b (without anyone hovering)

Check In & OUT

check in: 3:30p

check out: 11a

before your stay you will receive a text and an email with your unique door codes.

the front door and your room will have the same code.

if you need to arrive after 10pm, we just ask that you be mindful of other guests and keep noise to a minimum.

check out is easy, just grab your stuff, close the door and head out - we will take care of the rest.

Food & Bev

check out our coffee cafe (the pink room) for complementary coffee and tea.

we offer baked goods from Alea - the best bakers in mcminnville, on saturday and sunday mornings.

we have a fun and complementary snack station in every room - yes really its free - I too hate having to curb my chocolate craving with a $6 candy bar!

Common Spaces

ever been to a hip hostel in europe – remember that lobby vibe with everyone hanging out, working, drinking, and making new friends?

that’s the vibe we want to inspire! hang out, grab a bottle of wine, a snack and chill!

need to get some work done? grab the desk in the wine library or cozy up to one of our banquets in the dining room – just be mindful of your fellow guest (pls use headphones and library voices for conference calls).

Cameras

for your safety and to protect the inn we have closed circuit cameras in the common areas.

Forgot something?

forgot a toothbrush, need a razor, or a band-aid? we've got you covered!

check out our “stuff ya might need (SYMN)” closet.

GETTING HERE

mcminnville is about an 1 hour from the Portland airport.

unfortunately, the willamette valley does not have ample uber/lyft service so we recommend the following options:

  • uber/lyft to and from the compass (be sure to schedule your return in advance) and then;
  • plan to walk – there are great restaurants, shopping and tasting rooms 2 blocks from the inn
  • and/or hire transportation
  • NW Wine Shuttle (also offers dinner service transportation)
  • Serendipity Wine Tours
  • Pinot Car
  • Triangle Wine Tours (if you want to join a group tour!)
  • Black Tie Tours (if you want an elevated experience)
  • rent a car – please be mindful that waits can be long on holiday weekends
  • hire a driver for your rental car - it’s not fun (and not really safe) to drive while wine tasting so Main Street Drivers can be your chauffeur!

Cleaning

we are a sustainability-focused inn, as such, we clean the rooms upon check-out.

given we aren't around all the time, we want to make sure you have access to anything extra you might need during your visit. as such we have an easy to access closet full of extra linens, towels, etc. we will also have a laundry hamper, dish trays and trash/recycling if you want to self-refresh your room mid-stay.

Gym

we have several gyms and yoga studios nearby if you want to burn off some calories from all the goodies you'll get here in mcminnville.

WE AIM TO foster a community OF TRAVELERS
